Dance A New

So standing over the barley was a girl he never knew,
Behind the banner of his country a truer flag never flew,
In some cold dark winter a note he read,
In some lonesome field a simple tear he shed,
Over memories of lying in corn silk curls of hair,
Summers of days smell of breezes from over there,
She shines glowing wishing in all her alone,
As he shivers hunkered down to the bone,
The letter warms his thoughts, her image burns his mind,
The moment the moon hung full once for their kind,
When day soon shall come of tomorrows dream,
What maiden and soldier already have seen,
The future in past moments better left alone,
Taking each others hand they are going home..............
